Restaurant Spotlight #10: Chungchun Rice Dogs
Chungchun Rice Dog is a fun Korean street-food spot offering a variety of crispy, cheesy, and flavourful rice dogs. With its casual atmosphere and affordable prices, it’s a great place to stop by for a quick snack or an easy meal with friends.
The menu features a variety of rice dogs with different fillings and toppings, ranging from classic options to more creative combinations. One of the best parts is being able to customize your rice dog with toppings like potatoes, sauces, and other add-ons.
I got the Beef and Mozzarella Hotdog with potatoes, which was definitely my favourite of the two. The outside was crispy and golden, while the inside had a great combination of savoury beef and stretchy, melted mozzarella. The potato pieces added an extra layer of crunch and made the hotdog much more filling.
I also tried the Chungchun Original Hotdog, which was a more classic option. It had the same crispy rice-flour coating that Chungchun is known for, with a savoury hotdog filling inside. I liked that it was simple but still really satisfying, especially with the sauces on top.
Pricing: The total for the two rice dogs, including the potato topping, came to $19.23 after tax and tip. I thought this was a pretty reasonable price for two filling snacks, especially compared to many other casual food options in Toronto.
Overall, this was a really fun and satisfying experience. Chungchun Rice Dog is a great option if you’re craving something quick, affordable, and a little different from your usual fast food. I especially recommend the Beef and Mozzarella Hotdog with potatoes if you like a combination of crispy, savoury, and cheesy flavours. It’s also the kind of place that’s easy to visit with friends when you want a casual snack or quick meal.
